Get the funk out of here, you haven’t heard Darondo? Well, don’t feel bad. With our first release in partnership with Ace Records UK, Omnivore is releasing the long-lost mid-’70s studio sessions from Darondo at last. We’re ready to bring this cult artist into the mainstream.

Coming August 9th, 2011—The Motels third album Apocalypso. What’s that? You thought All Four One was their third album? Well, technically it was—but Apocalypso would have been had it not been shelved, much of it re-recorded, re-flavored and otherwise re-formed into that big hit record. So, for the 30th Anniversary of Apocalypso being recorded (and not coming out)—we’re putting it out!

Unless you’re a die-hard Leon Russell fan, there’s a real good chance you’ve never heard of his Live In Japan album from 1974. That’s because it’s never been released anywhere but in Japan—until now. Not only is this the first time this amazing recording will be available in America, but it’s also the first time it’s been on CD.

We just got back from making the rounds and had a great time at our local stores. They were rockin’ too—so great to see so many people out! We hope you got most of what you were looking for. We were pretty successful but still hunting a few things down—all part of the fun.

We’ve got a brand new pressing of Big Star’s Third on 180gm vinyl! This is the Test Pressing Edition that commemorates the original 14-song version of this album among albums and comes stuffed with replicas of the studio tracking sheets and lead sheets. Also, we have a super rarity 7″ on yellow vinyl! It’s Buck Owens with a previously unreleased early version of “Close Up The Honky Tonks.” This is the first time this version has appeared anywhere!
