The Muffs — Live At Fort Apache

The Muffs

Live At Fort Apache

Release date: August 28, 2026

First official full-length live album from The Muffs, recorded at legendary Fort Apache Studios.

Fort Apache was one of THE studios of the late ’80s/early ’90s. Artists like Radiohead, Hole, Weezer, Pixies, The Lemonheads, Buffalo Tom, Uncle Tupelo, Juliana Hatfield, Throwing Muses, Sebadoh, Dinosaur Jr., all recorded there and put Boston on the map of destination studio cities.
The radio show Live At Fort Apache was broadcast live on Boston’s alternative rock station WFNX directly from the now-legendary Fort Apache studio and allowed bands and listeners to share a performance in real-time, making Live At Fort Apache a must-listen event.
On June 1, 1995 The Muffs took over the studio and the airwaves for a 14-song set.

When Kim, Ronnie, and Roy tore into “Agony,” the room was electric. It wasn’t just a performance; it was a statement. Raw, punk, and unapologetically loud, The Muffs transformed that intimate studio into a riot of sound and sweat, something bigger than any of us imagined.

—from the liner notes by Troy Smith, author, Nirvana The Chosen Rejects

This blistering set was recorded while the band were touring behind the release of their second album Blonder And Blonder and is now being officially released on vinyl and CD. Troy Smith, author of Nirvana The Chosen Rejects, and Music Director at WFNX-FM at the time of this recording contributes liner notes and introduces the band on the album.
