Jerome Solon Felder (Doc Pomus) was an acclaimed blues singer and songwrite.
Inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame, and Blues Hall of Fame, and was the first non-African American to receive the Rhythm and Blues Foundation Pioneer Award.
His staggering list of credits include “Young Blood,” “Can’t Get Used To Losing You, “Save The Last Dance For Me,” “This Magic Moment,” “A Teenager In Love,” and a number of Elvis Presley smashes including “(Marie’s The Name) His Latest Flame,” “Viva Las Vegas,” “Suspicion,” and “Turn Me Loose.”
Bob Dylan’s The Philosophy Of Modern Song was dedicated to Doc, and Pomus was one of two friends Lou Reed wrote about and memorialized on his 1992 release Magic And Loss.
