SPIKE JONES

Born in Long Beach, California, in 1911, Lindley Armstrong Jones earned his nickname as a child for being as thin as a railroad spike.

Aside from radio stardom, Jones hosted his own television programs on both NBC and CBS from 1954–1961.

Spike Jones And His City Slickers’ “All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth” was inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame in 2007.

Jones’ recorded output was released on labels including RCA Victor, Verve, Warner Bros., and Liberty.

Famously name checked in The Band’s hit “Up On Cripple Creek.”
