KINKY FRIEDMAN

Friedman is a singer, songwriter, novelist, humorist, and was a 2006 candidate for Governor of Texas.

In 1976, he joined Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder tour and appeared on Saturday Night Live. He also toured with Van Dyke Parks in 2011.

Friedman has written over 20 books, including many with a fictionalized version of himself as a detective.

The 2007 release Why The Hell Not… The Songs Of Kinky Friedman contains performances by Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Dwight Yoakam, Asleep At The Wheel, and more.

His 1975 appearance on Austin City Limits is the only of the series’ episodes taped, but never aired, due to its potential offensive nature.
