Big Star Third [Test Pressing Edition] fresh off the press like a tasty slab o’ black vinyl pizza! Check out the two middle pix, there you’ll see the five copies of the original 1975 test pressings being inserted into the run. Good luck on Record Store Day!
Take a peek inside Larry Nix’s Mastering room at the legendary Ardent Studios in Memphis as Larry, John Fry and Jody Stephens prepare the new master for Big Star’s Third [Test Pressing Edition] being released by Omnivore Recordings exclusively for Record Store Day on April 16, 2011!
Larry is the same engineer who—along with John Fry—cut the original back in 1975 (check your original Big Star LPs for – L. Nix – in the deadwax) and he has prepared the new edition utilizing the original analog assembly reel and the same lathe that cut Third the first time. You can’t get more authentic than this!
