ALEX CHILTON

Was the lead singer of The Box Tops, and at the age of 16 had a #1 hit with “The Letter.”

Broke up in 1974 after only four albums, Bruce Springsteen considers them an integral part of mid-’70s American rock ’n’ roll.

Member of Big Star, Tav Falco’s Panther Burns, and The Cossacks that included Chris Stamey (The dB’s) and Richard Lloyd (Television).

Produced The Cramps.

Not surprisingly, he is the subject of The Replacements song, “Alex Chilton.”
