The Omnivore webstore is now open and you may now purchase Omnivore Recordings releases directly from us!
As our first webstore exclusive, we are releasing 500 copies of Big Star’s Third [Test Pressing Edition] pressed on 180-grm clear vinyl. Same awesome cut and pressing as the black vinyl Record Store Day version, same cool inserts, same cool packaging—a second bite of the apple for those who got shut out on Record Store Day! Limit one per customer, so everyone has a shot. We’re doing this as a huge thank you for being in on the ground floor with us early. So, go get them now! When they’re gone, they’re gone for real. No, we didn’t do any other (or different) crazy color pressings.
Here’s the story: You’re probably aware that back in April, Omnivore’s very first two releases were exclusives for Record Store Day. All copies of Big Star’s legendary album, Third [Test Pressing Edition] and all the copies of our yellow vinyl Buck Owens 7″ “Close Up The Honky Tonks”/”My Heart Skips A Beat” (both early versions) blew off the shelves quicker than quick. It was the biggest Record Store Day yet, and we were really happy to make our debut then and contribute to a great day. (In fact, our Big Star package wound up pictured in Rolling Stone alongside the story about how successful RSD was this year—cool!).
Back when we manufactured the 180-gram black vinyl Big Star package, we also manufactured an additional 500 on 180-gram clear vinyl. Why? So we could offer them to you as the first exclusive made especially for our webstore! Unfortunately, 14 copies escaped the warehouse while we were getting the webstore ready. We were contacted by some of the lucky folks who scored a copy, and we know there have been questions about their legitimacy and origin, we just couldn’t talk about the clear vinyl versions… until now!
We’ll be carrying all our releases in the store, plus there will be exclusives like this one from time to time. We’ll tell our mailing list about them first (and sometimes only)—so if you wanna be in early when we release limited cool things, make sure you’re signed up now and tell all your record-loving pals too.
Thanks very much!
